Dr. Tom Butler is in his third year as the superintendent of the Ridgway Area School District. Dr. Butler comes to Ridgway from Tioga County Pennsylvania where he was a classroom teacher, guidance counselor and principal. Dr. Butler enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children. Dr. Butler graduated from Penn State University as an undergraduate with a major in Social Studies. He continued his education at Alfred University where he received his Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Butler graduated with a Ph.D. from Penn State University researching rural schools and communities.
Currently, Dr. Butler serves on the Main Street Steering Committee in Ridgway. He is a member of The Forum for Western Pennsylvania Superintendents and is assisting the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators design a professional development program for school building and school system leaders.
