Snack Info

The fifth grade teachers during open house heard from many parents that they were concerned that their child would not be able to focus well close to lunchtime because the fifth grade lunchtime is from 12:15 pm until 12:45pm.  As a team we are asking that each student once a month bring in a snack that could be shared with the whole class.  It should be brought in sometime during the first week of each month.  This snack will be passed out during an independent rime when students are working so it does not disrupt instruction time.  A list below will give you some idea as to what to send.  If you would like to sometime during the month send a fresh snack like fruit, cheese, yogurt, pudding, etc., that snack will be passed out that day.  We are going to try this approach and hopefully this will help all students to be more alert and focused until lunchtime.

Pretzels
Ritz Crackers
Animal Crackers
Popcorn
Graham Crackers
Cheese Sticks
Granola Bars

The Emperor's New Clothes - December 18th

Play starts at 6:30PM - be at the school at 6:00PM.

Please have your child bring in the following by Monday, December 15th.

Girls:  flat dark shoes and any other color pantyhose or knee highs.

Boys:  Dark colored soccer or baseball socks. (no stripes)  These are the socks that come to the knee.  If you don't have these socks, any high dark colored socks will be OK.

Long sleeve t-shirt in black or dark color.  This shirt may have something written on the chest because your child will have something over it.

Please bring these items in a bag marked with your child's name.

Christmas Party

Our Christmas party will be on Monday, December 22nd.  Students should bring in $3.00 dollars by Wednesday, December 17th.  This will cover drinks, pizza, and party snacks.  Students will eat in the classroom that day, so if your child can't eat pizza they may bring his/her lunch and will not have to pay the $3.00 dollars.

At our last class meeting the students voted and decided that this year out class would do a Secret Santa and the ending gift will be a homemade gift.  During the week of December 15th - 19th students can write notes to the student they are paired with and give them small gifts homemade or spend no more than a quarter on a small gift. (Examples:  candy, pencil, a sticker)  The homemade gift that will be given at the party should be brought to school by Wednesday, December 17th.  It should be wrapped with only your child's name on the package.

Finally as part of our multi-cultural study we will culminate our study of Germany by making gingerbread houses on Friday, December 19th from 9AM until 11AM.  Each student needs to bring a can of white frosting in and the item that is marked on the letter sent home.  If any parent would like to come in and help, it would be greatly appreciated.  Also if anyone has frosting bags or tips that they would not mind the student using those would also be great healp for this project.  Thanks you for all your help and support.  If there are any questions or problems, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you -

Mrs. Raubenstrauch
