What is Vocational Assessment?

Vocational Assessment is an on-going process designed to help students and parents understand the young person's vocational preferences and potential. Assessment should not involve the use of only one instrument or test.

In order to provide a broad range of information about your child, a variety of assessment approaches and tools (both formal and informal) is necessary. Assessment can include such activities as:

                       Vocational Interest/Preferences

                        Aptitude Tests

                        Learning Preferences/Styles

                        Worker Style Preferences

                        Worker Characteristics

                        Situational Assessment

Both federal and state special education laws and the Carl Perkins Act require vocational assessment.
